Sautéed Asparagus with Garlic

sauteed asparagus

Asparagus sauteed with garlic and butter. I know this seems like a no brainer, but sometimes it helps to see ideas to remind yourself, “hey, asparagus sounds really good right now, I should totally pick some up next time I go to the grocery store”. Asparagus has such great flavor, I like to keep it simple.

Pro Tip:

My husband taught me this one to get asparagus ready for cooking. Grab the flat end with one hand and about a 1/3 of the way from the bottom with the other hand and snap. The natural break point will snap at most fibrous part (the part you want to throw away or compost). Now your asparagus is ready for cooking!

Get the pan hot, but not too hot you don’t want to burn your butter or singe your garlic. I like somewhere between medium and medium high. I use a garlic press on nights I need dinner done a little quicker. You can tell by how fine the garlic is minced in the picture.

Sauté the butter and garlic for a minute or so, then add the asparagus. Cook those for about 5 minutes just until they start to get tender. Add salt and pepper to taste and finish off with a squeeze of lemon on top.
